As I think about the books in my TBR pile, I am overwhelmed. So many books, so little time!! I enjoy an array of books. Everything from romance to self help. Some of the books I really am looking forward to reading are not new releases, but books that are in my TBP (to be purchased) pile as I have not purchased a fiction book in a really long time. I think I’m going through withdrawal! So here’s my TBP and TBR list:

A Lady at Willowgrove Hall by Sarah Ladd -TBP

The Headmistress of Rosemere by Sarah Ladd -TBP

Mark of the Lion Series (3) by Francine Rivers -TBR

Bridge to Haven by Francine Rivers -TBP

Song of Acadia Series (5) by Janette Oke -TBR

Jaded by Varina Denman -TBP

Justified by Varina Denman -TBP

It’s not long but certainly gives me enough to get me through the rest of the summer! As you can see I’ve got a total of about 12 books and that’s just scratching the surface!

Question: What are you reading this summer?

  1. Hi Nichole! I know what you mean– I hardly EVER keep up with new releases unless it is an author I adore and I’ve read everything by them and can’t wait to read their next book. Most of the books I read are at least a year or more old. The book I’m currently reading, “Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell,” was published in 2007, I think. It’s a fantasy novel, which is not a genre I read often, but I thought I’d change it up for the summer!

  2. Stephanie I totally get that. I failed to mention that I even re-read my favorites. Sometimes every year. So that leaves little room for new releases!

  3. I try to keep up with new releases and just when I think I’m doing well I realize I’m not. LOL And now I’m trying to fit in catching up with backlist books of favourite authors as well. Just about ready to crack open Justified. I loved Jaded so I’m really looking forward to a gritty read.

    1. I really enjoyed Jaded and Justified as well. Varina Denman had a wonderful author voice. When I read those I found myself constantly turning the pages and hardly wanting to put the books down. Speaking of Varina’s books, I’d love a book about Grady meeting someone. His personality is so different from the usual hero, but I’ve met people in real life like him. He’s never met a stranger and can pull a person out of his/her shell. He’s also really funny. I just love him. 🙂

    2. I’m glad you can recommend Jaded! SO looking forward to that read!! And I know how hard it is to keep up on the newest books. They come out so fast I can hardly keep up!

  4. I borrow almost all of my books from the public library. Every month I give them a request of new books that I want them to order. They are very good at doing this and have a large selection of Christian fiction. I also put in lots of requests for my digital library. They’re good at getting books fast. There are about five authors whose new books I automatically purchase before reading. The rest I borrow from the library. After that, if I think they will be re-reads, I put them on my birthday/Christmas list or look out for good sales on those to add to my collection. I take advantage of some giveaways too.

Nichole, I was curious to know if your TBP books are ones you’ve already read from the library or if you only buy books.

I usually keep up with reading the new books, but get hung-up on backlists of authors. There are a few authors’ books that I’ve managed to keep up with, but it is very overwhelming at times. I’ve listened to one audiobook by Lauraine Snelling and would like to read more of her books. I about keeled over when I found out that she has written 89 books! I’ll never get caught up if I try to read all of hers.

    1. Borrowing books from the library is great option! I typically buy mine. If there’s one thing I don’t mind spending money on it’s BOOKS!

  5. I forgot to say what I’m reading. Currently I’m reading The Daughter of Highland Hall by Carrie Turansky. My current TBR stack (not counting the Kindle books or the books on my shelves that I haven’t read) is Drawing Fire by Janice Cantore, and Two Roads Home by Deborah Raney; all three are library books. Two books I purchased, but haven’t read yet are Through Waters Deep by Sarah Sundin and Robin Jones Gunn’s new book One More Wish. Robin’s book should be arriving in a couple of weeks. Books I won in a giveaway that are on my TBR stack are A Worthy Pursuit by Karen Witemeyer, Hearts Made Whole by Jody Hedlund, The Midwife’s Tale by Delia Parr, and Now and Forever by Mary Connealy. I have to read my library books first because they have due dates, but some of these others are calling my name.

  6. I’m currently reading a 3 series novellas by JoAnn Durgin (Christmas Holiday Extravaganza). Since some people love to celebrate Christmas in July, I decided to read these ones. They’ve been on my Kindle forever it seems!! Like you, my bookshelves (real and ebook format) are outrageously out of control 😀 After these, who knows what I’ll be in the mood for next? I take it one book or series at a time 😉

    1. Trixie,

I’m doing a “Christmas in July” reading this year. I’ve read two books and I’m on the third story in a novella collection which I’m sad to say won’t be finished in July! That leaves one Christmas book on my TBR stack.
