Stephanie - seeing the Avengers for Captain America is not a bad idea either. :)

I hadn't heard of Iron Sky before. What a fun concept. I'll have to check into that one. The Star Trek movie is definitely on the top of my list for 2013. I'm sure that'll be a midnight viewing.

Okay, Sarah, it's a date! I suppose I'll see Spiderman and Les Miz with you too.

Ditto Kav & Sarah for Once Upon A Time. LOVE that show! Speaking of which, I still have to watch Sunday night's episode.

Nicole - Fantasy/allegory isn't usually my favorite either, but I loved The Lord of the Rings and Narnia movies. Although I couldn't tell you why I liked them and not others.

I'm usually too picky about romance in film. Hollywood's idea of romance usually turns me off. I'm curious, what dramas have you enjoyed?

Brenda, you've got great taste in movies! I, too, am looking forward to many of those movies, although I'm looking forward to the Avengers more for Capt. America than Thor! I'm also lining up for The Hobbit. I saw all of the other LoTR movies in the theatre (midnight showings for the last two!) and plan on being there!

My husband is super psyched to see Iron Sky, a movie about Nazis that went to the moon and come back in modern day to wage war. It looks so hokey and stupid that it might be brilliant. I'm also looking forward to the next Star Trek movie in 2013.

Aunt Gayle and Mom- We SHOULD go see that movie together. It sounds like a good one! Other movies I'm really excited for are The Hunger Games of course, Men in Black, Spiderman, and Les Miz (FINALLY)!

Kav- I LOVE Once Upon a Time! I have a friend on campus that I watch the show with every week. It's officially my favorite tv show.

Regina - I would have chosen both Forrest Gump and Clear and Present Danger!

Loved X-Men: First Class too. It was the first X-Men I'd watched. The family talked me into it. Of course, now I'm hooked!

Brenda, not a "chick flick" fan per se. And do enjoy good action films - but contemporary. Fantasy/speculative: bleh. I'm probably the only one in the world who couldn't sit through any of The Lord of the Rings movies, nor have I read any C. S. Lewis or Tolkien. No thanks.

Good drama - which is as rare as good romances in both films and novels - I'll take those movies over any others.

Oh Brenda, you're a woman after my own heart! I will pick and action-adventure flick over a sentimental tale ANY DAY. One anniversary we had the choice of "Forrest Gump" or "Clear and Present Danger," and Todd let me pick. I picked Harrison Ford in "Clear and Present Danger," of course. :D

One of my favorite movies in the last year was "X-Men: First Class," although we had to wait for it to come out on DVD. Can't WAIT for the Hobbit one!!!

What? No Avengers, Gayle? ;)

Thanks for mentioning October Baby. I definitely want to see that one. Yep, you should come visit just so we--and our daughters--can go to it.

Nicole - Growing up with 4 brothers, and now having 2 sons, has probably greatly influenced my entertainment tastes. I tend to enjoy "guy" movies far more than chick flicks--hmmm, sounds like my fiction tastes too. My youngest really wants to see Act of Valor. So far I've given him the noncommittal "we'll see." You'll have to fill me in after you see it, then I'll decide whether he can go or not.

We've been bringing our own bowls for years, (Country Crock butter containers work great cuz then you can shake in the salt and butter) and we've done it when on vacation too. Not once have we had a problem. For us that's a real money saver because, as you said, concessions can be outrageous. When on my retreat last week, I took an afternoon to go see The Vow. The ticket was only $5, but popcorn and pop was $13.25! Crazy!
