The Great Bookmark Challenge

By Lorna Seilstad — November 21, 2016

One of my favorite things to do is graphic designs. I guess it lets me delve into a different realm of creativity. However, one problem is sometimes it’s hard to chose which product to use, so I need your help.

This weekend, I designed four bookmarks for the upcoming novella collection Seven Brides for Seven Texans that I’m part of. The book releases Dec. 1 so we want to have some bookmarks to pass out. I made up four different options and I’m sharing them with you today, so you can help us pick one. If you will put your favorite in the comments, I’ll pass the results on to the group. (You can click on them to get a clearer picture.)

Choice #1bookmark-1-d

Choice #2bookmark2

Choice #3bookmark3

My niece, who’s a photographer, always says that people seldom pick the pictures she would. The same is usually true of the things I design, so I’m anxious to see what you all decide. Thanks for your help!

They're all eye-catching, and I oohed & aahed after looking at each one, but my favorite is probably #4. It's definitely the most legible, and when you have lots of info, it has to be easy to read. I also like the pic of the 7 cowboys - right away, that tells a story. And I like the rose accent up in the corner, adds that necessary touch of femininity. :)

Wow, Lorna -- you are a talented graphic designer. I wouldn't begin to know how to whip up something like that. I love bookmarks but never thought about how they came to be. LOL I keep going back between #1 and #4. I really like the silhouette aspect of the the first one, but Brenda makes a point about how the last picture with all seven cowboys tells a story at a glance.

I'm wondering what is on the other side. I think it's nice to have a photo of the book cover on a bookmark, so if I've picked it up somewhere, I know what the book looks like that I should be looking for. That said, I really like #4 because of the photo of all the brothers. Maybe the book cover photo (like on #3) could be on the reverse.

Me personally I like to have a bookmark that matches the cover of the book :-) My two choices would be #1 or #3. Like Pam mentioned, I'd love to see front and back of these!

My vote is #1 or #4! But they all look great, I agree with the others you're a very talented designer!

OK, I'm going with 3 or 4. Love them! I like 3 because of the female character and her long dress. I like 4 because it's such a cool graphic of the 7 men!

The one that catches my eye would be # 4. It reminds me of the Cartwright Family riding into my living room every Sunday night.
